jetzt ist es schon fast ein Jahr her, seitdem ich mich auf meinen Weg nach Brasilien gemacht habe. Seitdem arbeite ich als Zivildienstleistender und Missionar auf Zeit in der kleinen Stadt Araruna im Nordosten Brasiliens. Um Ihnen noch einen letzten Einblick in meine Arbeit zu bieten, sende ich Ihnen diesen etwas speziellen Rundbrief, in dem ich Euch einen (fast) gewöhnlichen Tag meiner Arbeit und meines Lebens hier in Brasilien vorstellen möchte.

It is hard to believe: Already more than 10 days ago we finally arrived in Araruna and slowly adapt in our new surroundings.

But first I would like to introduce ourselves: We are the new volunteers, Nils and Sabine. The upcoming twelve months we will be working in the projects of AFINK and therefore exchange our regular 9-to-5 job in Hamburg for the multifaceted work in the various fields of the organisation in and around Araruna.

Dear Reader

Araruna is a small town with about 18,000 inhabitants in the state of Paraiba in the northeast of Brazil, which is said to be one of the driest regions in the country.

In the interior of the country, it only rains a few days in some years. Especially the farmers with their families suffer from these difficult circumstances.

Since the year 2000 our main goal is to provide support for these inhabitants.

Our success proves us right!
