It is hard to believe: Already more than 10 days ago we finally arrived in Araruna and slowly adapt in our new surroundings.
But first I would like to introduce ourselves: We are the new volunteers, Nils and Sabine. The upcoming twelve months we will be working in the projects of AFINK and therefore exchange our regular 9-to-5 job in Hamburg for the multifaceted work in the various fields of the organisation in and around Araruna.We already had the opportunity to cast a first glance at our future occupation here. In the first days we visited some water projects in the neighbourhood of Araruna and a plantation which is supported by AFINK. Furthermore we already operationally participated in a water project in Gonçalo, accompanied Seu Damião on two of his visits in the municipality and supported the other two volunteers Lukas and Alexander with the settling of some paperwork.
In Araruna we already start to feel at home: The people here come across with an amazing cordiality and frankness, at AFINK we meet an outstanding positive working atmosphere and above all, the nature here is just breathtaking!
Altogether we are deeply impressed by everything, which is already realized by AFINK in and around Araruna, and are really looking forward to collaborate in the next twelve months at AFINK!
