„Vida nova" - new life, in relation to Easter this became our motto for this month.
Several children parties were organized in the surrounding communities during Holy Week. Besides playing creative games, soft toys and chocolate eggs were distributed to the kids. At this point we want to say thank you to Family Klingelhöfer, Obermaier and Diepolder. They had collected the donations in Germany and brought them when they visited us during their two weeks stay in Brazil. Reading the bible and explaining the meaning of Easter Symbols were also an important part of these children parties.
On Easter Sunday the families got together in the surrounding community Barbaço, to help three families in a so-called Mutirão (community work).The aim of this Project is to extend the available living area and to improve the hygienic condition by building toilets. Though, this project is still without a sponsor. Next to our regular courses another seminar of our partner organisation "SEBRAE" took place in our education centre this month. In it, it was taught how to produce marmalade and sweets out of a fruit called "umbu". The course was well visited with its 18 participants.
Our reforestation project is running at full speed at the moment. Shortly before the distribution of the 17000 tree seedlings which were produced by our organisation, courses for the right treatment of the seedlings took place in the surrounding communities. Furthermore preparations are made in the surrounding communities to ensure that all seedlings are delivered early next month.
Presentation of a project:
With 22 km Barbaço is one of the most distant surrounding communities of Araruna. The children rich families live in small houses at the size of 30-40 m². For each person therefore doesn't remain much space.
The families of the bee keepers Antônio, Serverino and Franzisco live there, too. Because of many materials, which are necessary for the bee cultivation (like bee boxes, honey buckets and various other equipments) not much space is left in the already small houses.

In Antônio's bedroom for example the honey buckets are piled up, in Severino's house on the other side the children have to sleep next to the shower because of the bee boxes. Also because of the honey buckets the house of Antônio was already invaded several times by complete bee tribes.Besides the difficulties with the space there is also another problem concerning the hygienic condition. None of the houses has a toilet.
Therefore we would like to build extra rooms for this people to store their bee cultivation equipment and to build toilets for them.The expenditures for each of the families equal approximately 250 €.
